140 years. Hall Neighborhood House has been showing up for Bridgeport families since 1886, back when it was known as the Associated Charities of Bridgeport. We joined their anniversary celebration, a free family festival held with the Bridgeport Police Department, and got to see what fourteen decades of steady work actually looks like up close. This organization opened a STEM Center last year that now reaches every single public school in this city. That’s the kind of legacy worth celebrating. Happy 140th, Hall Neighborhood House. 🎊

Ahead of Connecticut’s statewide Gun Buyback and Gun Safe Giveaway Day earlier this month, we held a press conference to get the word out across Bridgeport. Anyone with a valid permit ID could turn in a weapon, no questions asked, and walk away with a free pin-code gun safe. Getting unused or unwanted fi****ms out of homes is one of the simplest ways to keep kids safe, and we wanted every Bridgeport family to know that option was there. 🔒

Faith communities across Bridgeport came together for the 4th Uniting for Hope Interfaith Charity Dinner, hosted by the Bridgeport Islamic Community Center. Every dollar raised supports BICC’s food pantry, which feeds hundreds of families across this city every single week. Watching different faiths sit down at the same table for one cause is Bridgeport at its best. 🤝

Kids took over for an afternoon at Bridgeport Day for Kids, with games, activities, and plenty of reasons to smile. Seeing this city’s youngest residents having this much fun is exactly why events like this matter. 🎈

As Hispanic Heritage Month wraps up today, we’re looking back at the opening ceremony that kicked it all off, bringing neighbors, culture, and pride together in one room. It’s been a month full of celebrating the Hispanic and Latino community’s impact on this city. 🎉

St. Vincent’s Medical Center announced something simple but important: free e-bike and scooter helmets for Bridgeport families. These helmets are rated for the speeds E- bikes actually hit, up to 28 miles an hour, with rear lights and reflective safety stickers in English and Spanish. St. Vincent’s doctors see these injuries up close, sometimes five or six in a single weekend, and they look more like motorcycle trauma than anything else. We want to stop the accidents before they happen. 🚲

Good company and good conversation at the East Side Senior Center this week, where we joined Congressman Jim Himes to spend some time with the people who use this space every day.

Dominoes, bingo, a game of pool, conversations that matter, that’s what you find inside this building.

New smiles, literally, on Main Street. We cut the ribbon on Presto Dental’s new Bridgeport location, a full-service practice bringing general dentistry, pediatric care, and orthodontics all under one roof at 3101 Main Street.

Every new healthcare provider that chooses Bridgeport to plant roots is one more reason families don’t have to leave the city to get the care they need.

The Yes We Can Festival brought Pentecostal Church of God’s congregation and the surrounding community together for an afternoon built around faith, food, and fellowship. Festivals like this are proof that this city’s churches do more than hold Sunday service, they hold the community together. 🙌
