IMPORTANT ALERT!

Please go to this link on our website to comment on the National Park Service's plan to allow the take (killing) of up to EIGHT golden and bald eagles in the Valles Caldera National Preserve (NM). NPS is only allowing the 15 days for public input, rather than the traditional 60. Thank you for advocating for America's wild eagles!

It was the privilege of a lifetime for us to appear at the pre-mission luncheon briefing for Rocky Mountain Honor Flight's 56th Mission, as the trips are called, to Washington DC.

This is one of approximately 130 "hubs" or local organizations that raise money to send veterans and their trained guardians to our nation's capitol, visiting sites such as the World War I Memorial, World War II Memorial, Korean War Memorial, Vietnam Wall, Lincoln Memorial, Arlington National Cemetery and changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknowns and the Marine Corps War Memorial.

Our appearance at the end of the luncheon was a surprise, and we had a wonderful time speaking about the history of our National Bird. We did a group photo at the conclusion of the luncheon with the veterans, who served our nation in WWII, Korea and Vietnam.

Thank you, ladies and gentlemen, for your service!

It was an absolutely beautiful morning on August 15th at the Genesee Foundation clubhouse, where we presented our Raptor Roundup program for the community members.

Guests of all ages enjoyed meeting our barred owl, peregrine falcon, turkey vulture and bald eagle. Thank you to Karen D and Jim B for making our visit possible!

We had a great visit to Cherry Creek State Park on July 30th, introducing our female bald eagle and new male eastern screech owl to the Aurora Chamber of Commerce.

It was a festive afternoon of all things Aurora, our former stomping grounds and home for many many years. Thanks to our partner Michelle Seubert, Manager of Cherry Creek State Park!

Please, take a moment to today to stop, reflect and be grateful for all the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice to establish, protect and preserve the freedom we enjoy today...250 years, and counting.

And thank you to all our veterans and active duty personnel around the world, still standing watch today.

Gravel day! Snow last week, approaching 90 degrees this week: everyone here in Denver knows that the term "spring cleaning" can involve both ice removal and flower planting. Yesterday, we added two tons of pea gravel to our enclosures, courtesy of the generosity of members Mike and Diane McCubbin.

We've been really busy for the last several weeks preparing for a full slate of summer activities ahead of America's 250th birthday! Yesterday we vaccinated all 25 of our raptor ambassadors against West Nile virus. It was cool and cloudy, but the rain held off for the most part.

We also performed several exams on some of our senior raptors, including a look into the eyes of our oldest ambassador, our 36-year-old male bald eagle.
