Local Government Green Oak Charter Township, established in 1835, is located in the Southeast corner of Livingston County.

We are bordered by Washtenaw County on the South and Oakland County on the East. US-23 is our main North/South route through the Township and Interstate 96 is close to our Northern border. The school districts of Brighton, Whitmore Lake, and South Lyon serve our residents. Rolling hills, streams, woodlands, and lakes are plentiful in our township. 20 percent of our township is public parkland. We have the Huron Meadows Metropark and Island Lake State Recreation Area along the Huron River as valued recreational area within our community.

Good morning,

Over the weekend there was an unfortunate accident with the drop off ballot box and it was damaged so it had to be removed. The clerks department is working on getting it replaced. We apologize for the inconvenience. We are open for early voting at the township and there is also a drop box inside the township lobby. If you have any questions please reach out to the clerks department at 810-231-1333. Select option 4 for clerks department.

“The election ballot drop box located at Township Hall was damaged, and the appropriate authorities have been notified. It has been determined that it was an accident no malice intent . A replacement ballot drop box has been ordered.”

Please be advised of the upcoming LCRC project:

W Eight Mile Road between Whitmore Lake Road and Hall Road Rehabilitation
• Start Date: Tuesday, October 13, 2026
• End Date: Tuesday, October 20, 2026
• Work Being Completed: Road Rehabilitation
• Traffic Impact: The road will remain open but will be east bound only and under flag control during construction. Westbound motorists are urged to seek an alternate route.
