Even with the rain we had last week, Brinkley Fire wants to remind everyone we are still under a Burn Ban. The potential for wildfire still exists. Please be patient…we will advise everyone as soon as we can lift the ban. If you have any questions regarding the burn ban you can contact the BFD at 870-734-2532 or City Hall. The wait is over, Brinkley Fire Dept. will be taking possession of our new pumper this Wednesday. In carrying on fire department traditions, we will have a push in ceremony on 10/3/2026 @ 11:00 am. Engine 2 will officially be in service afterwards. We encourage everyone to come be a part of this tradition. While you’re there, take a look inside and out of the new truck, grab some pictures, or just get to know your local firefighters. We truly hope to see everyone there.

Effective 12:00 pm August 13, 2026, a burn ban will be in effect for Brinkley city limits. This will also be extended to Monroe County as well. With the dry weather already in place and the current heatwave,drought predictions, and no rain predictions the wildfire danger potential will be increasing daily.

What Is Prohibited :

*No burning of leaves, brush, or yard debris
*No use of burn barrels or trash fires
*No campfires or open fire pits
*No fireworks
*No open-flame welding or hot work without strict permits

What Is Allowed (Generally):

*Enclosed gas or propane grills and camp stoves (check local rules for charcoal)
*Indoor fireplaces with safe chimneys
*Essential agricultural or commercial hot work done with specific fire code safety steps

Saturday ended much like it began unfortunately! At 5:52pm we were paged out to a tree on fire. C1 and E7 responded with 5 firefighters to what we thought would be an easy one but that changed quickly. They arrived on scene at 5:59pm and started working on the tree. No sooner than we got going good on this one a storm blew in and things went crazy! First R5 with a few firefighters went to cut trees out of the road on S. New Orleans. Then we were called out for a power pole on fire behind Dollar General North that E8 went to. At this point Entergy has been added to the mix and we are spread out but handling things. We got the tree put out and S New Orleans opened up and all settled at the pole on fire to block traffic and ensure the scene was safe. Just as we thought things were settling down we got another page for a burning tree limb on a power line on Brownstone drive. We break again and sent C1 and an Engine over there to handle that one. Finally at 8:16pm we were able to head back home and get some much needed rest! It was so hectic we didn’t get many pictures but this was from the call on Brownstone.

Saturday morning started off with another dreaded rush straight out of a deep sleep and into action for us. At 3:50 that morning our pagers went off for a house fire. We rushed to the station in pajamas with amazing bed head hair styles to grab our equipment and go to work. We arrived on scene at 4:03 in C1 followed by E7 and T343 with 8 firefighters now awake and ready to work! The fire was knocked out, everything cooled down to prevent a restart, and we headed back to the station to take care of our equipment at 7:03. Another great job by our firefighters!

Yesterday at 3:30 in the morning we got paged out to a fully involved house fire. We jumped out of bed and staggered out of the door as fast as we could to get there. At approximately 3:42 we were on scene in C1, E7, T343, and E8 with 8 firefighters. This was just around the corner from the station. When we arrived the entire house was engulfed in flames. We geared up and went in for the battle. We hit it with 2 lines and a deck gun while some of the crew focused on water supply. Tanker 343 played a crucial part in this because there wasn’t a hydrant close. We hit it from 3 directions and got it under control quickly. Once the flames were knocked out we spent a good bit of time cooling all the hot spots. We returned to the station around 6:45 filthy and exhausted, got our equipment taken care, and ran home to shower so we could get to our regular jobs. This one was a tough one but thanks to our training and our commitment to the service we got the job done quickly and safely!
