Taking care of those who serve our communities starts with recognizing the weight they carry.
We were pleased to host the two-day “Struggle Well” course developed by the Boulder Crest Foundation. This training helps first responders understand the effects of stress and adversity and introduces practical ways to turn those struggles into opportunities for personal growth. Built on the principles of posttraumatic growth, the course emphasizes strengthening relationships, finding purpose, and supporting one another through the challenges of the profession.

Thank you to the instructors and everyone who attended. Preparing public safety professionals means investing in both their ability to do the job and their well-being after the shift ends.

Today was our followers favorite day! Yes, the 97th Jail Basic Class experienced “Spicy Friday” today, and nobody asked for seconds! 🌶️🔥

Today’s OC spray exposure brought plenty of tears, some impressive facial expressions, and a whole new appreciation for the importance of fresh air.

There is a serious purpose behind the controlled burn. Exposure in regulated environments helps students understand the effects of OC spray, practice decontamination procedures, and build confidence in their ability to respond and perform essential duties if exposed on the job. It also reinforces the responsibility that comes with using it.

Well done, Class 97! You supported each other and worked through a tough training day. Next time someone says academy training is nothing to cry about, you have photographic evidence to the contrary. 😁

Good communication is essential to public trust.

This week, Academy hosted the FBI-LEEDA Master Public Information Officer course. This advanced, four-and-a-half-day course helps public safety professionals strengthen how their agencies communicate with the communities they serve.

The course covers crisis communication planning, media relations, internal and external communications, and producing video for social media. Practical exercises challenge participants to think beyond the next news release and develop a coordinated approach to keeping the public informed.

Thank you to FBI-LEEDA, the instructors, and the participating agencies for investing in clear communication, transparency, and stronger community relationships.

It was a great pleasure to host a two-day Court Security course this week!

Keeping courts safe requires preparation, sound judgment, and attention to detail. This training supports the important work of the professionals who protect judges, court personnel, and all of those who enter our area courthouses.

Thank you to our instructors and participating agencies for their commitment to training and professional service.
