Today, Danielle Booher graduated from Veritas Recovery Court, and we had the honor of celebrating a woman whose story is one of courage, determination, and hope.
She came from a long line of addiction. For generations, substance use had left its mark on her family, and addiction eventually touched every part of her own life. When she entered Recovery Court, she was lost, overwhelmed, and unable to see a path forward. The future she dreamed of seemed out of reach.
But she refused to let her story end there.
She volunteered for Bristol's Veritas Recovery Court and gave it everything she had. Even when the journey was difficult, she remained committed to creating a life she wanted to live—a life filled with purpose, stability, and hope. She fought for herself and for the future she deserved.
Today, that hard work paid off.
The room was filled with tears, laughter, pride, and love. Many shared how proud they are of her and reflected on the strength she has shown throughout her journey. Most importantly, she was reminded that she does not walk alone. The support that helped carry her through Recovery Court will continue to stand beside her as she enters this next chapter of life.
Today was about more than completing a program. It was about breaking cycles, proving that change is possible, and showing that a person's past does not define their future.
Her story is a testament to the power of recovery, the strength of the human spirit, and the hope that exists when someone is given the opportunity to change their life.
Congratulations, Danielle. Your future is bright, and this is only the beginning. 🎓🎉👏

Traffic Advisory: Temporary Closure and Lane Shifts Planned at Bonham Road / Old Airport Road Intersection
BRISTOL, Va. — Motorists are advised of temporary traffic impacts near the Bonham Road / Old Airport Road intersection on Thursday, June 18, from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
MASTEC will be performing gas line work for ATMOS, requiring the closure of a small section of Bonham Road. Temporary lane closures and shifted traffic patterns will be in place throughout the work period. Detours will be established to help drivers safely navigate around the closure.
Traffic impacts will include the closure of the right turn lane from Old Airport Road onto Bonham Road, closure of the center lane of Bonham Road heading north, and reduction of southbound Bonham Road traffic to one lane. Detours will be set up using Coronet Drive and Fairfield Street.
The Bristol Virginia Police Department will have officers directing traffic in signalized areas, and emergency services have been notified of the closure and traffic pattern changes.
Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, pay close attention to signage and flagging personnel, and use caution when traveling through the work zone.
The City appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation as this important work is completed to help ensure safe and reliable utility services in the community.
