🍎 Keeping it local at lunchtime!

On Thursday, Oct. 22, students across Broadalbin-Perth enjoyed locally grown apples from Rogers Family Orchard in Johnstown as part of the New York State Education Department’s October apple promotion, Big Apple Crunch.

The initiative celebrates New York’s apple industry and highlights the importance of local agriculture. We’re proud to bring fresh, locally grown produce to our students and recognize the farms that help support our community!

🚌 Stop for school buses. Protect our students.

Broadalbin-Perth recently participated in New York state’s Operation Safe Stop initiative alongside local law enforcement to raise awareness about the dangers of illegally passing stopped school buses.

During the enforcement effort, marked and unmarked Fulton County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicles followed two B-P buses along their morning routes. Deputies issued a citation to a driver for unlawfully passing bus 135.

🚨 Drivers, remember:

🔴 Stop for a school bus when its red lights are flashing and its stop arm is extended, whether you’re approaching from the front or behind.

🟡 Slow down and prepare to stop when a bus displays flashing yellow lights.

👀 Watch carefully for children who may be crossing the road or getting on or off the bus.

🚗 Stay alert near schools and bus stops, and never pass a stopped school bus with flashing red lights.

In New York, fines for illegally passing a stopped school bus start at $250 for a first conviction and can increase for subsequent offenses.
A few seconds saved are never worth risking a child’s safety. Thank you to our local law enforcement partners for helping keep B-P students safe on their way to and from school! 💙❤️
