This week we read 4 chapters in ”Where the Red Fern Grows”, learned about James 1:19 and James 3:6, the risk of comparison in our daily life, the science behind Venus Fly Traps, and logic with Math. With 9 weeks to go, we are trying to really grow our skills before the summer break.

We had a great day at the Caddo Indian Historical Site in Alto, TX today. We learned about native plants, the history of the Caddo, was able to help in the garden, and use some of the vegetables to create a salad. We finished our day at Tokoyo!!

This week, we were able to get a little art in. The kids chose a snowman painting. I love how unique each one of them were and reflected their personality.

They also designed cookie cutters that we then printed. We will cut them out, bake, and decorate next week. I can’t wait to see how they turn out!

To culminate our study on historical thinking with primary, secondary, and tertiary sources, we went on a field trip to San Augustine to see the “Traveling Smithsonian,” the San Augustine Historical Society’s historical windows and displays, and finished at Mission Dolores. It was very interesting to see the history near us and get to experience history outside of textbooks.

We also made a stop at San Augustine Drug to try the Grapefruit Highball.

Today was all about Psalm 37:4, order of operations (Math), inferences and themes in passages (Reading), & primary, secondary, and tertiary resources (History). We finished our diagnostic testing for both Reading and Math, so individual learning plans are developing!! I am truly loving this journey!!
