🔥🔋 FIRE PREVENTION WEEK 2026: CHARGE INTO FIRE SAFETY! 🔋🔥

Lithium-ion batteries power many of the devices we use every day—from cell phones and laptops to power tools, e-bikes, scooters and more.

While these batteries are incredibly useful, improper charging or damaged batteries can create a serious fire hazard.

This Fire Prevention Week, take a few simple steps to charge safely:

🔌 USE THE RIGHT CHARGER
Use the charger that came with your device or one approved by the manufacturer.

🛏️ CHARGE ON A HARD SURFACE
Never charge devices on beds, couches, pillows or other soft surfaces that can trap heat.

👀 STAY ALERT
Avoid charging devices while you’re sleeping or when you can’t monitor them.

🔥 WATCH FOR WARNING SIGNS
Stop using a battery if it becomes unusually hot, swells, leaks, smells strange, or makes popping/hissing sounds.

🛴 BE EXTRA CAREFUL WITH E-BIKES & E-SCOOTERS
Charge larger battery-powered devices outside when possible, away from exits and anything that can burn.

♻️ RECYCLE BATTERIES PROPERLY
Never place lithium-ion batteries in the trash. Follow local guidelines for safe battery disposal.

🚨 IF A BATTERY STARTS SMOKING OR CATCHES FIRE: GET OUT AND CALL 911.

A few seconds of prevention can make a huge difference.

Charge smart. Charge safe. Charge into fire safety. 🔥🔋
