🎨⚙️ Bringing the Renaissance to Life!
Students in Dr. Killian’s World History classes have been stepping back in time to Renaissance Italy with a hands-on Renaissance Makers STEM Challenge!
Working in teams, students became Renaissance artists, inventors, architects, and thinkers, using simple materials, creativity, and problem-solving skills to demonstrate some of the ideas that made the Renaissance such an important period in history.
Depending on their challenge, students created Renaissance-inspired artwork, designed inventions, built architectural structures, or developed posters explaining ideas that changed society. Our student architects even had an extra engineering challenge—their structures had to stand on their own for at least 10 seconds!
To wrap up the challenge, groups presented their creations and explained the Renaissance ideas that inspired their work. This activity gave students an opportunity to build, design, draw, create, collaborate, and think critically while making meaningful connections to the major characteristics of the Renaissance.
We love seeing history move beyond the textbook and into the hands of our students! 🧠🎨🏛️⚙️
