This week, I was able to speak on how Senate Bill 403 will cut through DEP red tape and give local townships the long-term stream maintenance permits they need to prevent flooding. As the Minority Chairman of the House Environmental and Natural Resources Protection Committee, I am committed to giving communities the tools they need to protect themselves and preserve the environment.

I was proud to have helped secure more than $1.7 million in Local Share Account (LSA) grants that will fund critical community projects in the 176th District.

The grant awards are as follows:

• Chestnuthill Township- $200,000 for the construction of a new ADA compliant sidewalk and associated infrastructure improvements along State Route. The project will create a safe pedestrian connection between the Chestnuthill Township Shared Emergency Services facility and the existing sidewalk network serving St. Luke’s Urgent Care.

• Jackson Township- $266,880 to purchase highway equipment, including a new wheel loader to replace the existing 2017 model, as well as a pickup broom and snow wing.

• Monroe County- $54,280 to replace deteriorated doors at the Monroe County Fireman’s Association “Burn Building” Training Facility in Hamilton Township. The upgrades will enhance security and ensure the facility remains safe and functional for firefighting, law enforcement, and emergency services training.

• Monroe County Industrial Development Authority, on behalf of Eldred Township- $600,000 to replace the roof of the Eldred Township Community Center. The building requires a full roof replacement due to significant deterioration. The project includes substrate preparation, installation of insulation, crickets and slumps, and all necessary roofing materials. LSA funds will support construction and administrative costs.

• Monroe County Industrial Development Authority, on behalf of the Monroe County Municipal Waste Management Authority- $256,116 to purchase a new hook lift truck for the Monroe County Municipal Waste Management Authority in Tobyhanna Township.

• Tobyhanna Township- $350,000 to rehabilitate the aging 30 year old Emergency Services Building. These improvements will extend the building’s service life and ensure it remains a safe, functional facility for emergency operations.

Local Share Account grants are funded through gaming revenues and are used to support economic development, community improvement and other projects that enhance quality of life for Pennsylvania residents.
