Join Keep Broken Arrow Beautiful (KBAB) for the inaugural seasonal “Saturdays in The Gardens at Central Park” — a new series inviting the community to slow down, enjoy the beauty of The Gardens, and discover a little something special along the way.

🐾 Mazie and his human were enjoying a stroll through The Gardens and happily stopped to share how much they love this special spot—and invite you to enjoy it, too!

Stop by, stroll the paths, find a spot to sit, enjoy the fall surroundings and snap a few photos while you’re there . . . Mazie thinks you’ll love it as much as he does! 🍂

And, because every good Fall/Halloween outing deserves a sweet treat, the first 20 visitors will receive a generous Kilwins gift card to enjoy something delicious — ice cream, chocolate, caramel apples or whatever your sweet tooth is craving!

🎉🌹 Happy 124th Birthday, Broken Arrow! 🌹🎉

Today, Keep Broken Arrow Beautiful celebrates more than 124 years of our city’s history. We celebrate the people, heritage, resilience, and community spirit that have shaped Broken Arrow into the place we proudly call home! ❤️

🌿 Did you know?

Broken Arrow’s name has roots in the Muscogee Creek Nation. During the forced removal of Native Americans from their homelands in the 1830s, members of a Creek community in Alabama were relocated to Indian Territory. They established a new settlement and carried its name with them, preserving a connection to their ancestral home.

That settlement, known as Rekackv in the Muscogee Creek language, was located several miles south of what is now downtown Broken Arrow.

Our city’s story is one of perseverance, transformation, and community. From its Indigenous roots and early settlements to the vibrant Rose District, beautiful parks, gardens, and neighborhoods we enjoy today, Broken Arrow continues to grow while carrying the legacy of those who came before us.

🌹 At Keep Broken Arrow Beautiful, we believe honoring our past and caring for our present go hand in hand with building a beautiful future.

Every tree planted, garden tended, public space improved, and volunteer hour contributed helps preserve the beauty and character of our community for generations to come.

As we celebrate Broken Arrow’s 124th birthday, we extend our gratitude to the residents, volunteers, organizations, and community leaders who make this city such a wonderful place to live, work, and grow.

🎂 Happy Birthday, Broken Arrow! Here’s to honoring our roots, celebrating our community, and keeping Broken Arrow beautiful for generations to come! 🌹💚

💬 We’d love to hear from you! What’s your favorite thing about Broken Arrow? Share a favorite memory, place, or tradition in the comments!

Fall Flowers Have an Important Job! 🦋🌸🌻🪻

Just because summer is over doesn’t mean our gardens are finished working!

As temperatures begin cooling across Oklahoma, something remarkable is happening.

Pollinators are still searching for food.

And some are preparing for an incredible journey.

🦋 Monarch butterflies migrate through Oklahoma on their way south to Mexico.

Late-season flowers provide valuable nectar during that journey.

Native bees and other pollinators also benefit from flowers that continue blooming into fall.

Want to make your landscape a little more pollinator-friendly?

Consider including plants such as:

🌸 Aromatic asters — Beautiful purple blooms that support pollinators.

💛 Goldenrod — Bright yellow flowers that provide valuable late-season resources.

💙 Azure blue sage — Delicate blue flowers that add color and attract pollinators.

These plants can help extend the blooming season while adding natural beauty to Oklahoma landscapes.

Even if you’re not planting anything right now, take a look around your yard.

What’s still blooming?

What could you add to next year’s garden?

A beautiful landscape doesn’t just look good. It can support the living things that make our environment thrive. 💚

🌼 Tell us: What’s your favorite fall-blooming flower?

A Beautiful Community Should Be Beautiful for Everyone 🌹

When we think about beautifying Broken Arrow, we often picture colorful flowers, landscaping, public art, and inviting green spaces.

But there’s another important part of beautification that deserves attention.

Accessibility.

A beautiful park means something different to someone who uses a wheelchair.

A shaded bench can make a meaningful difference to an older adult who needs a place to rest.

A clear, unobstructed sidewalk matters to someone pushing a stroller.

Accessible pathways help residents with mobility challenges enjoy the same community spaces as everyone else.👩🏻‍🦽‍➡️

And thoughtfully maintained public areas help make our city more welcoming.

Beautification isn’t only about what a place looks like.

It’s also about how people experience it.

Can they navigate it?

Can they comfortably spend time there?

Can they participate?

Do they feel welcome?

These are important questions when considering what makes a community truly beautiful.

Because the most beautiful spaces aren’t simply the ones people admire. They’re the ones people can enjoy.

At Keep Broken Arrow Beautiful, we believe community pride grows when we care for the places we share.

💚 What features make a park or public space feel welcoming and accessible to you?
