WE WILL NEVER FORGET
As we end this September 11th, we take a moment to remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost, the families forever changed, and the extraordinary courage of the first responders who ran toward danger when others were trying to escape.
Earlier today, Corporal Campbell of the Brookfield Police Department Traffic Unit joined members of the Danbury Police Department Traffic Unit on a memorial ride to Ground Zero and the 9/11 Memorial & Museum in New York City.
For those who wear a uniform, September 11 carries a profound meaning. We remember the police officers, firefighters, EMS personnel, military members, and ordinary citizens who demonstrated extraordinary courage and selflessness on one of our nation’s darkest days. We also remember those who, in the years that followed, lost their lives from illnesses connected to their service at Ground Zero.
As we lay our heads down tonight, we do so with the understanding that thousands of families went to bed on September 10, 2001, never knowing how profoundly their lives would change the following morning.
Twenty five years later, we remember their names, we honor their sacrifice, and we remain committed to a promise made by a nation:
We will never forget.
