Last Monday, Initial Attack Fire Training LLC brought their live-fire trailer to BCFD for our annual required live-fire training.

Our firefighters were able to conduct fire attacks under live-fire conditions and had the opportunity to practice vertical ventilation using saws.

Thank you to Initial Attack Fire Training for providing this valuable training and helping our firefighters stay prepared!

October Means Pumpkins, Costumes... and Fire Safety!
Sure, October is all about Halloween fun - But did you know it's also Fire Prevention Week?

Here's a little history:
Fire Prevention Week began in 1925 when President Calvin Coolidge proclaimed it a national observance. It's held every October to commemorate the Great Chicago Fire of 1871, a tragic blaze that killed more than 250 people and left thousands homeless. since then, the goal has been simple: educate and prevent fires before they start.

And Brooklyn Center Fire is all in!
Every October, our firefighters visit local elementary schools and teach fire safety to our young learners in Pre-K, Kindergarten, and 1st Grade.

Here's What the kiddos learn:

• How to call 911
• Not to play with matches or lighters
• “Get out and stay out” during a fire
• What a smoke alarm looks and sounds like
• And more!

They'll also get to see our firefighters suit up in full gear and everyone's favorite spray water from a real fire hose!

This is hands-down, one of our favorite events of the year, and we love helping out youngest community members become fire safety pros.

Happy Fire Prevention Week, Brooklyn Center and stay safe out there!

As a proud supporter of , The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation is reminding you to use the cord and charger that came with your device or ones approved by the manufacturer. Using the wrong charger can damage the battery and increase the risk of fire.

Over the weekend, BCFD hosted its Open House, and we just wanted to say thank you to everyone who stopped out!

We would also like to thank all of our vendors and local partner agencies for helping make the event a success.

A special thank you to West Metro Fire-Rescue District for providing city coverage during the event.

And finally, a massive thank you to all of our firefighters who helped make the event run smoothly!

None of this would be possible without the support of our citizens, partners, vendors, and firefighters. We truly appreciate everyone who helped make this year’s Open House a great event!

Thank you!
