WEATHER ALERT — WEEKEND NOR’EASTER

Residents are urged to prepare for a strong coastal storm expected to impact New York City and the Sea Gate community this weekend.

🌧️ Heavy Rain: Periods of rain are expected, particularly Friday into Saturday.

💨 Strong Winds: Gusty northeast winds are expected, with stronger conditions possible along the coast.

🌊 Coastal Flooding & Rough Surf: Sea Gate’s location along the Atlantic makes us particularly vulnerable to coastal flooding, beach erosion, dangerous surf and high water during high tide.

⚠️ Residents should:
• Secure outdoor furniture, decorations, garbage cans and other loose items.
• Avoid unnecessary travel during periods of strongest winds and rain.
• Stay away from the beach, seawalls and shoreline during hazardous conditions.
• Never drive or walk through flooded roadways.
• Keep phones and emergency supplies charged and accessible.
• Check on elderly or vulnerable neighbors.
• Monitor official weather and emergency-management updates.

Residents should continue to monitor the forecast as the storm track and local impacts become clearer.

The National Weather Service is forecasting heavy rain, strong thunderstorms, gusty winds, and the potential for localized flash flooding across Sea Gate and New York City on Tuesday, especially during the afternoon and evening hours.

⚠️ Be Prepared. Stay Alert. Stay Safe.

Safety Tips:
🌧️ Avoid driving through flooded streets—Turn Around, Don’t Drown.
🚗 Allow extra travel time and slow down on wet roadways.
📱 Charge your cell phones and portable electronic devices before the storms arrive.
🪑 Secure outdoor furniture, umbrellas, trash cans, and other loose objects.
⚡ Stay indoors during thunderstorms and avoid trees, beaches, and open areas.
🔦 Keep flashlights, batteries, and emergency supplies readily available.
🐶 Bring pets indoors and ensure they have fresh water and a safe place to shelter.
👵 Check on elderly neighbors and those who may need assistance.
