The Georgian American Republican Alliance (GARA USA) proudly attended the Lincoln Day Gala Dinner of the Brooklyn Republican Party, an evening honoring the enduring legacy of Abraham Lincoln and the foundational principles of the Republican Party.

The Gala brought together elected officials, party leadership, civic organizations, and community representatives in a spirit of unity and shared civic responsibility. GARA USA was honored to participate alongside distinguished guest Tarrik Rehmat, Pakistani Christian Church Priest, underscoring the importance of interfaith dialogue and cross-cultural cooperation within New York’s diverse communities.

Among the notable leaders in attendance were Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis, Candidate for Governor Bruce Blakeman enator Stephen T. Chan, Assemblyman Alec Brook-Krasny, Assemblyman Michael Novakhov, Assemblyman Lester Chang, Kings County Republican Chairman Liam McCabe, and First Vice Chair Svetlana Zelinskaya, among other candidates and community leaders.

We were also pleased to connect with representatives of the Brooklyn New Wave Civic Coalition, whose growing civic engagement reflects a renewed commitment to grassroots participation and responsible governance.

The Lincoln Day Gala served not merely as a commemorative gathering, but as a reaffirmation of liberty, constitutional principles, and civic duty. In honoring President Lincoln, attendees reflected upon the moral courage and leadership required to preserve national unity and democratic values.

The evening demonstrated that beyond political alignment, there exists a broader commitment to community strength, interethnic cooperation, and the preservation of America’s founding ideals.

Every Georgian citizen has the right to vote - everywhere, always. This right is guaranteed by Georgia’s Constitution and by the international commitments our country has made.
The letter below (in Georgian & English) reflects a non-partisan position to protect democratic participation for all Georgians, at home and abroad.

Georgian American Republican Aliance GARA USA Official Statement :

▪️ The recent initiative announced by the Government of Georgia, which effectively prevents citizens living abroad from participating in elections, constitutes a direct violation of the constitutional rights of Georgian citizens. Such a decision is fundamentally undemocratic, contradicts constitutional guarantees, and disregards the state’s obligation to ensure political participation for all citizens, regardless of geographic location.

More than one million Georgian citizens currently live abroad, the overwhelming majority not by free choice but as a result of economic hardship and social circumstances. Their voices and political will continue to be an integral part of Georgia’s future. Denying them the right to vote is not only morally unacceptable, it is legally indefensible and does not represent the will or interests of this large segment of the Georgian population.

It is unacceptable for the government to impose conditions that place emigrant citizens in a discriminatory position, effectively tying their electoral participation to physically traveling back to Georgia — something that is objectively impossible for many due to financial, logistical, or humanitarian reasons. Such an approach violates both the spirit and the letter of the Constitution, and undermines Georgia’s international democratic commitments.

• Immediate withdrawal of this initiative;
• Full protection of political rights as guaranteed by the Constitution of Georgia;
• Election procedures that comply with democratic principles and legal standards;
• Unrestricted access to voting for all citizens living outside Georgia, without any artificial barriers or discriminatory limitations.

Political participation is not a privilege granted at the government’s discretion — it is a fundamental right and a core duty of the state to protect. Any restriction on this right constitutes an attack on democratic order and presents a serious threat to the political development and stability of the Georgian state.

▪️ საქართველოს მთავრობის მიერ საჯაროდ გამოცხადებული ინიციატივა, რომელიც ქვეყნის ფარგლებს გარეთ მცხოვრებ მოქალაქეებს პრაქტიკულად ართმევს არჩევნებში მონაწილეობის შესაძლებლობას, წარმოადგენს საქართველოს მოქალაქეთა კონსტიტუციური უფლებების პირდაპირ დარღვევას. აღნიშნული გადაწყვეტილება ფუნდამენტურად ანტიდემოკრატიულია, ეწინააღმდეგება კონსტიტუციით გარანტირებულ პრინციპებს და უგულებელყოფს სახელმწიფოს ვალდებულებას – უზრუნველყოს ყველა მოქალაქის პოლიტიკური ჩართულობა, მიუხედავად მათი საცხოვრებელი ადგილისა.

დღეს ქვეყნის ფარგლებს გარეთ მეტადრე ერთი მილიონი ქართველი მოქალაქე ცხოვრობს, რომელთა უდიდესი ნაწილი ემიგრაციაში იმყოფება არა საკუთარი სურვილით, არამედ ეკონომიკური და სოციალური გარემოებების გამო იძულებით. მათი პოლიტიკური ხმა და ნება კვლავ რჩება საქართველოს მომავლის განუყოფელ ნაწილად. ამ ადამიანებისთვის ხმის უფლების მოპოვებაზე უარის თქმა მხოლოდ მორალურად მიუღებელი კი არა, არამედ იურიდიულადაც გაუმართლებელია და არ ასახავს ქართული საზოგადოების ასეთი მნიშვნელოვანი ნაწილის ინტერესებს და ნებას.

მიუღებელია ხელისუფლების ნაბიჯი, რომელიც ემიგრანტებს აყენებს დისკრიმინაციულ მდგომარეობაში, არჩევნებში მონაწილეობის შესაძლებლობას აკავშირებს მათ საქართველოზე ფიზიკურად დაბრუნებასთან — რაც მრავალი მოქალაქისთვის ფინანსური, ლოჯისტიკური ან ჰუმანიტარული მიზეზების გამო ობიექტურად შეუძლებელია. ასეთი მიდგომა არღვევს საქართველოს კონსტიტუციის როგორც სულისკვეთებას, ასევე შინაარსს, და ზიანს აყენებს საქართველოს საერთაშორისო დემოკრატიულ ვალდებულებებს.

Secures Over 72% of Weighted Vote From 56 Republican County Chairs in Bid for New York Governor

Saratoga, NY: Today, the Elise for Governor Campaign announced that 56 NY Republican County Chairs representing over 72% of the weighted vote have endorsed Elise Stefanik's campaign for Governor. 50% is required to be the New York Republican Party's nominee. Elise Stefanik is now the presumptive Republican Nominee for Governor of New York.
