This Monday, December 8th, Abolition Action is hosting another political education night starting at 8pm EST. We’ll discuss histories of medical racism in carceral settings, and connect that to how COVID is spreading through prisons today. Because policymakers are in the midst of deciding how folks on the inside will/not be prioritized for COVID-19 vaccination, we’ll also talk about medical consent in prisons, jails, and other carceral spaces. Join us!

The main topic for the Community Not Cops call ‪on October 7th‬ is Self-Defense, drawing from the tool on pg 29 of Abolition Action’s zine, “Abolition: How We Keep Us Safe,” which is available on our site.

PLEASE REGISTER AT BITLY: https://bit.ly/2GASJG2 if you will be attending!

The Center for Anti-Violence Education will show us a variety of self-defense moves, offer feedback on form, and help us assess when a situation is safe to intervene in as a bystander. Cameras will need to be on for safe participation; we will not record this call. Learning self-defense can be helpful in strengthening our ability to protect ourselves and our loved ones without authorities. Abolition means keeping each other safe every day and in emergencies. As much as we can plan proactively to ask for what we need, the safer and stronger of a community we can become. As always, we encourage everyone to bring people in their “pod,” which means the people you would turn to for help or care in a crisis (neighbors, friends who live close by, etc.).
