Driving on the road to success

Red Hook on the Road is Brooklyn Workforce Innovations’ oldest and largest program. Originally, we aimed to bridge the gap between the thousands of unemployed public housing residents in Red Hook and the abundance of jobs in the school bus driving and other commercial driving industries, which maintained their vehicle fleets and operations in the same community.

We have grown a lot since those early days. Today Red Hook on the Road trains 300 low-income and unemployed men and women from all five boroughs every year. Many of our participants have been incarcerated, homeless, and unemployed for a year or more. We welcome everyone with a clean driver’s license to our Class B/BPS CDL training program who needs help career with a living wage and room for promotion.
