Lawyers for the Brooklyn Can’t Wait coalition and Julio Peña III 胡立歐 🏳️‍🌈🇵🇷 were back in court today, fighting to protect the votes of Brooklyn Democrats.

Instead of stepping aside gracefully, the former chair and her allies continue to waste time and resources in a losing battle to overturn an election. We are confident that we will win, but meanwhile we’re focused on the urgent work of electing Democrats like Mike DeCillis and Chris McCreight in November.

The Brooklyn Dems Party Chair is trying to handpick her successor by packing the executive committee with dozens of new members, including several former District Leaders who were rejected by voters in June, so that the same clique of insiders can maintain control of the party.

This isn’t democracy, it’s cronyism, and any election under the Chair’s illegal rules changes would be an insult to the Democratic voters of Brooklyn.

While the Brooklyn Dems Party Chair wastes party resources fighting to overturn the will of voters and hold on to power, there are winnable campaigns we should be focused on supporting like Mike DeCillis in NY-11.

But it’s not just that race. BK Dems couldn’t care less about campaigning PERIOD. They’ve raised $0 for the actual business of beating Republicans.
