Across the continent and throughout the Diaspora, animators are using the medium to explore history, mythology, identity, politics, technology, migration, environmental change, and everyday life.

What an incredible week at the Stone Avenue library! We joined other libraries to bring awareness to the American Library Association’s Banned Books Week and Freedom to Read statement (ala.org/advocacy/intfreedom/freedomreadstatement) through programs, tabling’s, performances and book readings. We also celebrated the grand opening of our newly renovated garden. Assemblywoman Latrice M. Walker presented a check to us and the Brownsville branch in her continued support for public libraries. We brought local businesses, nonprofit orgs and community leaders together to brainstorm ways to improve collaboration and turn ideas into action in our first Community Meet & Greet. We also entertained the public with a cool performance from Abe’s Magic Show!

We’re grateful for the continued support, advocacy, encouragement and partnership from Assemblywoman Walker, Jason Sheets and the team at New York Restoration Project, Jeff Moskin and his wife and our beloved Brownsville community.
