"On Friday, May 8, from 10am to 3pm, the library celebrates Brooklyn’s older adult community on the Plaza of Central Library for our 10th annual Older Americans Celebration Fair. This year, the theme is “Champion Your Health”. Older adults will meet non-profit organizations and city agencies that pertain to older adults’ needs and services. There will be music, dancing, presentations, snacks, and giveaways for older adults. No registration necessary.

We are hosting an Author talk with writer Pavel Lemberski. English/Russian .
Where: Brighton Beach Library at 16 Brighton 1st Rd.
When: On Tuesday, April 28th at 6 pm.

Pavel Lembersky, author and proud resident of Brighton Beach, will present his new novel, Two Hundred Brand New Shiny Cadillacs.
Pavel Lembersky was born in Odesa, Ukraine, and emigrated to the United States in 1977. After receiving his BA in comparative literature from the University of California, Berkeley, Pavel pursued graduate work in film at San Francisco State University. He worked in New York City on film projects by Jonathan Demme and Spalding
Gray, as well as the Oscar-winning The Appointments of Dennis Jennings, starring the comedian Steven Wright.. Lembersky authored seven story collections and three novels. His short stories and essays have been translated into English, German, Finnish, and Vietnamese and have appeared in literary magazines such as Little Star, Words Without Borders, The Brooklyn Rail,Trafica Europe, Fiction International, Inostrannaia Literatura, Novy Mir, Teatr, Colta, Textonly, Abandon, Asymptote, Art Focus Now, and others. Pavel's short story collection Fluss Nr. 7 was published in Frankfurt. For years, Pavel hosted a radio talk show in New York City. Lembersky's
book Twenty Five Odesa Stories came out in Kyiv in April 2024.Pavel Lembersky’s debut novel in English, Two Hundred Brand New Shiny Cadillacs, was published by Academic Studies Pressin July 2025.
