🧺🍁 Our seniors celebrated the fall season at our annual senior picnics. First in Dyker Heights, hosted in partnership with Senator Andrew Gounardes and Council Member Kayla Santosuosso, and then in Coney Island, again, with Council Member Kayla Santosuosso.

Seniors enjoyed a delicious outdoor meal, connected with friends and neighbors, and of course, hit the dance floor!

DYCD has been a longtime and valued supporter of the NIA. Their generous support has made many of our youth programs and community centers thrive. DYCD’s continued partnership also makes many of our annual events, including the Art Show, STEM Fair, and Dance Festival, possible. We are grateful for their ongoing commitment to supporting the NIA and the participants we serve.

ur STEM initiatives are made possible thanks to the support of The Pinkerton Foundation. Through their grant, NIA participants have the opportunity to explore STEM in a hands-on and meaningful manner. Jenny Negron, Senior Program Officer at Pinkerton, shares more about the foundation and its partnership with NIA.

Each year, our Youth Programming Department brings together our multi-site supervisors, directors, and leadership team for the Director’s Institute, a day dedicated to team building and professional learning.

Together, we reflect on the past school year, celebrate our successes, and look ahead to the opportunities and goals we’re bringing into the new school year.

This year, NIA is proud to serve NYC communities through 46 after-school programs across the city!

To all our participants, families, and staff: we wish you a wonderful, successful, and joy-filled school year ahead! 🍎📚

On September 11, NIA with Senator Andrew Gounardes and Council Member Kayla Santosuosso hosted a vigil to commemorate 25 years since 9/11. Neighbors, community leaders, faith leaders, first responders, service members, scouts, students, and local officials gathered at the American Veterans Memorial Pier.

Together, we honored those we lost, remembered those whose lives were forever changed, and recognized the courage, compassion, and service shown in the aftermath.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the evening a meaningful tribute. We will never forget.
