Alert issued 01-16-2022 at 4:22 PM.
The National Weather Service has issued the following:
What: Coastal Flood Warning
Where: Staten Island and Brooklyn
When: 4AM to 12PM on 1/17
Hazards: Tidal departures of 1.5 to 2.5 feet above normal are expected to cause beach erosion and widespread moderate flooding of vulnerable shore roads and/or properties.
Preparedness Actions:
- Avoid driving through or coming in contact with flood waters. Six inches of fast flowing water can knock you off your feet, and as little as one foot of rushing water can carry away a car. There could be pollutants in the water or other hazards that you cannot see.
- Coastal flood waters could damage your vehicle. Move your car to higher ground, and wash your car thoroughly if it makes contact with flood waters.
- New York City residents, please call 311 if you encounter flooding that makes roads impassable, causes property damage, or persists for more than 48 hours
Notification issued 01-07-2022 at 3:00 PM.
The NYC Emergency Management Department advises New Yorkers to prepare for freezing temperatures tonight into tomorrow, 1/8.

If you must go outdoors, wear dry, warm clothing and cover exposed skin. Keep fingertips, earlobes, and noses covered.
Check on family, friends, and neighbors who may need help in cold weather β especially older adults or people with disabilities.
