South Brooklyn Children's Garden

We are open for new members for the 2026 season! If you are interested in joining, please check out the membership requirements and fee on our website. Reach out with any questions!

Every member is required to care for the garden for one week - mowing the lawn, watering 3x a week, opening and closing the gates on Saturday and Sunday for our required open hours, and more.

South Brooklyn Children's Garden The South Brooklyn Children's Garden creates a green space for children, their families, and the greater community to connect with nature through gardening.

Pumpkin and Pie Day!!! Join us on Saturday, Oct. 21* - 2pm to 4pm

Come carve and decorate pumpkins, first come, first serve! Plus we'll be selling pies by the slice - pumpkin, apple, yum.

*Raindate Sunday, Oct. 22, 2pm to 4pm

It's opening day! Come join us at 10 AM to get the garden ready for spring. BBQ at 1.

Please remember to sign up for a watering shift - the tomatoes, peas and beans are all going to really need help making it through the heat wave that is coming.

Updates:
The knotty cedar boards were supposed to come into D***s Lumber on 6th Street today. I will pay for them and have them delivered next week, so we will need a lot of hands to come rebuild the beds next weekend. I am working with Green City Force to get volunteers on 6/19 to help us build them.
Members Potluck - please come to the garden on Saturday, 6/17 at 4pm to grill, hangout, meet old and new members. Bring whatever you want to grill and eat.

Come to our Fall Festival this weekend! The South Brooklyn Children’s Garden will hold a Fall Festival on Saturday, October 15, 2016 from 12pm to 4pm at 204 Columbia Street (corner of Columbia and Sackett Streets). The festival will be a celebration of the season, our garden and our community, and is sponsored by TD Bank as part of their “Rooted in New York” project supporting over 120 green spaces in New York City.
