We had a great time co-organizing the “Spring Into Health” event this past Saturday at Seth Low Playground! Alongside United Chinese Association of Brooklyn, Bay Parkway Merchant Association Inc, Chinese American Social Services Center, Inc, and NYC Department of Youth and Community Development, we brought together over 40 health and wellness vendors for local families.

We want to recognize our HEAT volunteers for their hard work throughout the day! Working behind the scenes to keep everything moving, they took care of setup, vendor support, participant logistics, and cleanup. Their willingness to help out wherever needed kept the event organized and welcoming for everyone!

Had a wonderful time today attending the Caregivers Celebration at P.S. 105 in Brooklyn, organized by the dedicated teams at UA3 and Sharing Hearts.

It was inspiring to see so many caregivers, families, older adults, and community members come together for an afternoon filled with resources, health information, safety education, fun activities, balloon art, and community connection. The strong turnout reflects the importance of supporting those who care for others every day.

Thank you to the organizers, volunteers and community partners for creating such a meaningful event. Caregivers are the backbone of our families and communities, and today was a wonderful reminder that they deserve recognition, appreciation, and support.

Homecrest Community Services’ Sheepshead Bay Dance Ensemble was honored to participate in the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce’s 2026 Heritage Celebration on Thursday, May 28.

It was a wonderful evening celebrating the rich cultures, traditions, and contributions of Asian Americans across Brooklyn alongside community leaders, businesses, elected officials, and advocates.

We were especially proud of our older adult performers, who took the stage and showcased their talents through vibrant cultural dance performances. Their energy, dedication, and passion were truly inspiring, reminding us that culture is something to be celebrated, preserved, and passed on across generations.

Thank you to the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce for bringing our communities together and for continuing to highlight the strength, resilience, and diversity of Brooklyn’s Asian American community. We are proud to be part of such a vibrant borough.

Your voice has the power to fund real community projects right here in your borough. In collaboration with Korean Community Services of Metropolitan New York, Inc. (KCS), Homecrest is hosting an in-person voting and survey session for the New York City Civic Engagement Commission’s (CEC) "The People's Money."

This participatory budgeting initiative allows city residents to decide exactly how municipal funds are spent to improve our neighborhoods. We will kick off with a brief presentation outlining the proposed projects, followed immediately by an opportunity to submit your survey input and cast your ballot.

Standing on the steps of City Hall alongside the Asian American Federation, Homecrest and other CBOs in the RISE Network brought the voices of our neighborhood directly to city leaders. Our collective presence sent a clear message about the resources our families need and deserve.

The Rapid Immigration Support and Empowerment (RISE) Network is a coalition of nearly 20 Asian-led and Asian-serving organizations providing essential immigration case management and language-accessible legal services to New Yorkers.

To sustain this work, we call upon the City Council to secure $3.5 million for RISE in the upcoming FY27 budget. True safety and stability for the city's fastest-growing demographic depend entirely on funding these trusted neighborhood institutions.

We are grateful for the elected officials and Council staff who took the time to meet with us during our advocacy hour. Thank you, Public Advocate Jumaane D. Williams, Council Member Alexa Avilés, Councilman Simcha Felder, Council Member Lynn Schulman 舒曼琳, and Immigration Chair Elsie Encarnacion for listening to our community’s needs and discussing how we can move forward together.

Thank you to Fidelis Care for visiting our Bensonhurst Community Center to host an informative nutrition workshop for our members!

Navigating nutrition can be challenging, but this session offered practical guidance on building a balanced lifestyle. Our members learned how to identify organic labels, select nutrient-rich options, and recognize which foods to enjoy in moderation.

We appreciate their expertise on this topic!

The Equity Budget Coalition Secured $30 Million For AAPI Communities!

The newly finalized New York State budget allocates $30 million in dedicated funding to AAPI communities, a major milestone for the state’s fastest-growing population. This investment secures ongoing support for language-accessible services, healthcare, and social programming at a time when federal resources face significant shifts.

We owe this victory to the strategic advocacy of the CACF: Coalition for Asian American Children & Families and the Asian American Federation (AAF), who co-led a powerful network of over 130 organizations! We are also grateful for State Senator John C. Liu and Assemblymember Grace Lee for championing these resources in Albany, and we thank Governor Kathy Hochul, Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins, and Speaker Carl Heastie for their support.

Our own team was proud to drive this campaign forward, with our social services team mobilizing the community via phone banks and our staff advocating for the coalition in Albany.
