Clergy Forum: Responding to Gun Violence in Our Communities

Gun violence has become so frequent that emergency meetings are no longer needed. That’s why we’ve built a regular quarterly forum for clergy to come together, share updates, and support one another because of the frequency of shootings.

Unfortunately, mass shootings continue to impact our neighborhoods, houses of worship, schools, and more.

Today, we honor all mothers, those celebrating with joy and those carrying grief. We especially lift up the mothers who have lost children to gun violence and community violence. Your love, strength, faith, and resilience continue to inspire our community every day. We want you to know that you are loved and not alone. Blessed Mother’s Day to you all.

This weekend, we join our community in honoring the life and legacy of a truly dedicated public servant, Rodrick “Ruddie” Daley. As Chairman of Community Board 17, he worked tirelessly to uplift the confines of our 67th Precinct, always putting the needs of the community first. His leadership, compassion, and steady commitment to service helped strengthen the very fabric of our neighborhoods.

Chairman Daley was a strong partner in the shared mission of reducing violence and creating safer, healthier spaces for our families. His voice, presence, and guidance will be deeply missed, but his impact will continue to be felt in the work we carry forward every day.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of working alongside him. May he rest in peace, and may his legacy continue to inspire us all. 🙏🏾🕊️
