*me making my second trip to the food table*

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! We hope you’re a couple plates in by now and in a food coma on the couch with your four legged friend right next to you.

Rest up, there is plenty more food and treats to eat. We won’t tell anyone if you sneak your pup a little thanksgiving turkey ;)

This thanksgiving we are thankful for each and every member of this wonderful community we have built here in the heart of Brooklyn.

Let us know what you’re thankful for this year in the comments!

Reminiscing on what a SCARY good time we had at our Howl-O-Ween party last weekend.

We can’t thank all of you enough for coming out and making our Halloween celebration so special. We are part of such an incredible community and moments like these serve as a reminder of that.

The costumes, atmosphere, and weather were amazing.

Here’s to making our party even bigger, better, and spookier next year!

P.S. due to instagrams 10 photo limitation some photos did not make the post. If we took a photo of you and you don’t see it, shoot us a DM, otherwise I will be uploading a link with access to all of the photos soon.

Good Morning Goblins and Ghouls,

We are sure you've seen our beautiful posters at the dog run, but in case you haven't we want to let you know that we are having our Howl-O-Ween celebration on Sunday, October 30th, between 3pm-5pm. Here is a short poem we have prepared to show you how excited we are about it:

*clears throat*

Zombies, goblins, and monsters galore
Poopy bags, cider, but oh wait there's more
Some treats for the doggies and humans alike
Sweets for the children; go ahead, take a bite!
Sharks, princesses, spiders, and knights
A costume contest that bring all delight
So come for the laughs or come for the frights,
Whatever you do just don't turn off the lights
Cause the paw-tys at 3, but its going ALL NIGHT!

We can't wait to see all of your lovely costumed faces and pets at the Howl-o-ween celebration.

Have a ghastly week and we're looking forward to celebrating Howl-o-ween with you!

P.S. please DM us pictures of you and your pets on previous Halloweens! We will be sharing photos all week as we count down the days to our Halloween extravaganza.

P.S. P.S. please enjoy our assortment of doggy Halloween memes after you enjoy our poster!

On Mondays, we .

Sal () is one of the founding members of the Kensington Dog Run and an integral reason the community is as strong as it is today.

He is a native New Yorker who has lived in the Kensington-Windsor Terrace community for fifteen years. He joined the KDRA in 2015 and led the organization's outreach with an online petition which garnered support from neighbors and attention from local leaders.

Sal served as President of the KDRA through the opening of the dog run in 2020, but made the difficult decision to step down after the passing of his family dog, Pocky. You may recognize Pocky from our social media profile photos. She was not only the epitome of a good dog, but the inspiration and drive for Sal to get involved in the Association. The joy our neighbors and their pups get from the dog run is the greatest honor to her memory.

An extremely heartfelt thank you to Sal and Pocky. The Kensington Dog Run is a staple in the neighborhood because of you two and may it continue to be for a long, long time. If you swipe all the way to the end you will see a picture of Pocky posing outside of the Dog Run during the initial construction stages!

(swipe to the right to see Sal, we’re we’re going to put you first, but that picture of Pocky is too good not to lead off with!)

Happy Belated Thanksgiving everyone, we haven't posted in a bit because of the food coma we were in, but today is a day you don't want to miss. Today is

Every year, on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, people take the time to kick off the holiday season by giving back to their community. Whether it is donating money to a charitable cause or volunteering, Giving Tuesday is a day set to benefit the community. We hope you have kept the spirit of Giving Tuesday in your hearts and minds as you have progressed through your day today. Simply holding a door, saying a thank you, or smiling at a neighbor are all ways you can give a piece of yourself to those around you.

Today we ask that you give us a little bit of your time and headspace by visiting the dog run, telling a friend, and then maybe heading over to our website (which is so conveniently linked in our bio). While you are on our website sift through it and learn a little bit more about us! Share it with a friend and if your heart desires - consider making a donation, no matter the amount, to our park so we can continue to give the community the dog run it deserves. If you have been with us since the summer you know we are working on getting some awnings installed around the park to give some shade during the summer months (what a distant memory, eh?).

With the days getting darker earlier, we are looking for ways to install more lights in and around the dog park so you can always keep an eye on your furry friend, but before we can brighten up your lives we need to raise the funds to do so. So please consider donating, however a donation of your time is always more than appreciated.

Thank you for your time and we hope you are staying warm in this chilly weather!

P.S. enjoy some more never before seen photos from our last howl-o-ween event!

10/31/2021

Come join us today to celebrate howl-o-ween! 3pm-5pm. Hot cider, treats, and costume contests. What more could you ask for?! Who will win best dressed?

Don’t forget to send us your photos!
