Internationally Accredited, Full Service Fire Department for the Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation & Beyond YDFD has since evolved into a state-of-the-art fire station.

Yocha Dehe Fire Department (YDFD) plays a vital role in emergency response and life safety throughout the Capay Valley and Yolo County by providing fire protection, technical rescue and paramedic emergency services. YDFD proudly serves as a community partner through mutual aid agreements with other fire departments to protect the citizens and land in Yolo County. When it was formed in 2004, the mission was clear: build a department for the entire community designed to work hand-in-hand with existing resources to provide the best fire and emergency services possible. Today, the Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation is proud that YDFD is the only Native American fire department to achieve accreditation from the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI) and will continue to invest in resources that protect our people, our land and our greater community.

Today, Yocha Dehe Fire Department joins our community and our nation in remembering the lives lost on September 11, 2001.

At Station 25, our crews came together for a memorial circuit in full turnout gear and SCBA, honoring the 343 FDNY firefighters and all those who made the ultimate sacrifice that day. Fire Chief Kinney and Deputy Fire Chief Lynch also joined firefighters from departments across the region for the annual Sacramento 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb, carrying that same remembrance with every step.

Our hearts are with the families, loved ones, first responders, and all those forever affected by September 11. We will never forget. 🇺🇸

YDFD is committed to investing in the next generation!
We love welcoming young people to the station, giving them a firsthand look at the fire service, and creating opportunities to learn, connect, and have some fun along the way. These kids are our future, and we’re proud to be part of experiences that inspire them to learn, grow, and dream big.

Stay tuned for more opportunities to connect with YDFD — our Open House is coming soon! 🚒🔥

We're at the peak of fire season, and our crews have been busy with deployments. One of our teams just returned home, and we couldn't be prouder of their dedication, hard work, and commitment to protecting our communities.

As we continue through fire season, please do your part to help prevent wildfires. Follow fire safety guidelines, be mindful of local restrictions, and do everything you can to avoid accidentally starting a fire.

To our crews and everyone working on the front lines—thank you, and stay safe out there.

Nearly a month has passed since our seventh annual Fire Youth Academy, and we're grateful for our dedicated firefighters who continue to invest in the next generation. Special thanks to Cole and John for making such a meaningful impact!

If you've ever wondered what the Fire Youth Academy is all about, here's a behind-the-scenes look. This recap features coverage and interviews that highlight the academy's impact and the experiences of the young people who participated.

A special thank you to Dehe Wintun Nation for your generous support in making this incredible program possible and keeping it free of charge for participants.

If you or someone you know is interested in participating, stay tuned—applications for the next academy will open in Spring 2027.

In the meantime, join us at our annual Open House this October! More details will be coming soon.
