WHEN THE COIN FALLS, WE VOTE
Del Moen
At Fort Myers, gold flashed in the cameras— a coin made crude, a wound turned into a joke, a grinning man performing bravado while the country looked away.
But look past the glare. See the hand reaching for the count before a ballot is cast, the lawsuit aimed at Alaska, the president saying, “I’m the one who said, ‘do it.’” A vote is not his to delay, a state is not his to command, and democracy is not a prize for the party that fears losing.
Hear the questions beneath the noise: Who had access to foreign money? Who carried secrets in a vulnerable phone? What did Russia see, what leverage might it hold? The allegations demand answers; the denials do not make the questions vanish. When private fortunes brush against public power, the people deserve the truth.
Beyond our borders, the tremors travel— allies weighing risk, households storing supplies, families paying for decisions made far away. No nation stands alone in the weather when reckless power darkens the sky.
So let the coin fall. Let the cameras turn. Let every citizen see clearly what spectacle is meant to hide.
We can rein in a presidency that treats law as a weapon and the world as a stage for one man’s will. We can defend the count, demand accountability, and choose leaders who honor peace, allies, and the lives beyond our shores.
Organize. Speak. Show up. Vote in numbers no grifter can drown out. Vote to protect the right to choose— and vote Trump’s party out of office.
The work of rebuilding will be hard, but it begins with a simple act: a mark made freely, a future not handed over.
