November is approaching which means prepping has already begun for our Annual Community Turkey Dinner!
Save the date: Saturday, November 21st

Over the past few years, we have relied heavily on members to make this happen and they have generously donated the food and time cooking/prepping. Last year we had members of the community offer to help and would welcome some again this year for anyone able and willing.

We were already given butternut squash, donated by a member of the Denmark Fire Department, to begin fulfilling our needs 😃

If pie making is something you enjoy, we could use some homemade pies (chocolate, apple, pumpkin). Donations of turkeys would be helpful, we'll even accept them day of roasted 😉

Some other things we need are:
Frozen peas
Boxes of stuffing
Dinner rolls
50lbs of potatoes ✔️
Butter

We aren't expecting to get everything donated by members of the community, we just wanted to put it out there since we do get asked. Maybe you have a connection to help us get things donated or you yourself just want to help. 😊 Our goal is just to not rely solely on members, who already do and give some much, to financially support this... and so maybe some members aren't cooking 3 turkeys themselves 😉

Please comment below if you can help or send a message if you want to do so privately. We thank you for your support and definitely hope to see on November 21st!

August was a very busy month for us and the department. Brownfield Day, pack inspections, hose testing in Fryeburg, two nights of pump training, Fit Testing and a lot of calls kept us on our toes this past month. We were asked to serve at a benefit dinner and for the annual Brownfield Denmark School cookout, members volunteered for both events! We also donated the use of our dunk tank for the benefit dinner.

We kicked off September with training alongside multiple departments at the Fryeburg Fairgrounds in preparation for the upcoming fair. We became familiarized with initial attack plans, hydrants on the grounds and using a LDH hydrant valve.

You see us when you need us. What you may not see is the hours and hours spent volunteering behind the scenes to make inspections happen, upkeep and testing. August was a reminder of how lucky we are to have dedicated people volunteer their time to get the jobs done.

Good Morning!

We would like to say "thank you" to everyone that stopped by our tent on Saturday! We enjoyed serving you and all the chats. We surely appreciate your support and gratitude ❤️

It was a beautiful day and the weather held off but that rain was refreshing at the end of the day. I personally didn't get the chance to walk around but it was wonderful to see so many vendors, it was the most I have ever seen.

THANK YOU to our members that put in all the hardwork to make it a successful day and to our "bonus" volunteers that helped complete the team effort and joined us under the tent to help throughout the day. We definitely couldn't have done it without you.

Congratulations to our two raffle winners! 🥳

Larry won $46 in the 50/50 raffle and generously donated it back to the BVFC.

Blane won the Blackstone Grill and is eager to pick it up this evening.

Great crew tonight for some pump training and hydrant testing. Tonight we used E2 for training and even tested out the deck gun, which is always a highlight for the person operating it. 😉

Mother Nature gave us the perfect weather once again for a night of training.

We would like to thank Jen Noble and Chad Pine for hosting a vendor/craft fair today and donating a portion of the proceeds to us. We are grateful you thought of us and for your support.

We set up a table today selling our t-shirts, Blackstone Raffle tickets and kick-started our 50/50 raffle. Both raffles will be drawn at the conclusion of Brownfield Day.

Thank you to the vendors/artists/crafters that participated today and to everyone that stopped by our booth. We appreciate seeing members of the community and having a moment to chat.

By now you are probably aware of the weather we have headed our way for tomorrow and the days to follow.

Here is some great information from the National Weather Service. BE PREPARED and check on those most vulnerable.

The BCC will be open as a cooling station and that information is also included.

Stay hydrated, try to stay cool and stay safe!

The weather sure has been in our favor for our recent trainings. 😁 Thank you Mother Nature!

On Saturday, members did bi-annual UTV training. This entails driving a course through diverse terrain, navigating and pumping water from a source using the mini pumper on the UTV. Members then drove back to our base to extinguish the "fire".

Tonight began our "summer" training sessions for pumping and checking hydrants. We checked 3 hydrant sources and found 1 of the hydrants to be broken and were unable to pump from it. Training like this is beneficial for the town as it gives us opportunities to check hydrants and be sure they are properly functioning so they can be repaired/replaced ASAP.

Thank you to our members for spending a beautiful Saturday and tonight to train.
