I read "My Leaf Book" by Monica Wellington to Mrs. Schneider's class today. We talked about the shapes and colors of leaves in the autumn. Then we did leaf rubbings with various leaves and created a craft using maple and oak leaves.

What is a Book Buddy?
🐾A book buddy is a child in first – fifth grade, who is willing to read aloud to an obedience trained dog. This program will allow the reader to improve reading comprehension and fluency while enjoying the experience of reading. Registration is required.
What can be read?
🐾The Book Buddy gets to decide what they would like to read. Picture books work great and the girls like both fiction and nonfiction. If you would like to read from a chapter book, we ask that you select one chapter to read so everyone gets equal time with our furry friends. Book Buddies can bring a book from home to read or select one from the library collection upon arrival.
🐾We still have a few spots open for November 23rd at 4:00 p.m. If you would like to be a Book Buddy call the library at 812-358-2853 to get registered.

Hey Teens:
Are you looking for that next great read? Check out the Brownstown Public Library's Young Adult Department. We have graphic novels, stories in verse, romance, mystery, thrillers and nonfiction just waiting for you. Plus, we have featured sections for the current New York Times Bestsellers, the Young Hoosier and the Eliot Rosewater Book Nominees for 2026-2027. Stop by the library after school, grab a book or two before someone else snaps them up.

Looking for something to do over fall break? Stop by the public library and check out the treehouses designed by the 4th grade students. We read "House Held up by Trees" written by Ted Kooser during the library visit last week and then the 4th grade students drew their ideal treehouse and did mini presentations to the class.
