🚔 Traffic Safety Initiative Begins October 1

One of the most common concerns we hear from residents is speeding and drivers failing to stop at stop signs within town limits.

The safety of our residents, children, pedestrians, and visitors is a top priority. While the Town has discussed various traffic-calming measures over the years, we believe the first step should be consistent enforcement of the traffic laws already in place.

Beginning immediately, Brownstown Police officers will be increasing traffic enforcement efforts and making additional traffic stops related to speeding and stop sign violations. Prior to October 1, drivers may receive warnings and reminders regarding an upcoming traffic safety enforcement initiative.

Effective October 1, 2026, the Brownstown Police Department will begin an enhanced-tolerance enforcement effort throughout town with a focus on:

✅ Speeding violations
✅ Stop sign violations
✅ Other unsafe driving behaviors

This initiative is about safety, not revenue. Our goal is simple: encourage safer driving habits and make our streets safer for everyone.

We are providing advance notice so residents and visitors are aware of the increased enforcement efforts. By notifying the public in advance and providing a warning period, we hope to encourage voluntary compliance before citations become necessary.

We appreciate the community's support as we work together to improve safety throughout Brownstown.

Please slow down, come to a complete stop at stop signs, and help keep our streets safe for everyone.
