What a special night for the Brunswick Police department as they got to celebrate the retirement of two of their Sergeants and the promotion of two of their Patrolmen to the rank of Sergeant. Sgt. Mike Matheis retires after 32 years of service and Sgt. Jonathan Page after 28 years of service to the citizens of Brunswick. They will be missed and we wish them all the best in their future endeavors. Enjoy that retirement, you've earned it.
Patrolman Jeff Holub, a 7-year veteran and Patrolman Jeremy Puhac, a 25-year veteran, were promoted to the rank of Sergeant. Congratulations gentlemen and good luck in this next chapter of your careers.

Congratulations to Patrolman Jason Kimmel, who retired from the North Royalton Police Department today after 26 years of service to the citizens of North Royalton. Jason has been assigned to a motor unit in the Traffic Unit since 2018 and has advanced certification in Traffic Crash Reconstruction. During his service he was a member of SWAG (South West Accident Group), a regional crash investigation unit, and was active in the community, particularly with the North Royalton City Schools and Shop With A Cop. Jason was seriously injured in the line of duty in 2016, but made a full recovery and returned to work in short order. Congratulations on your retirement, Jason.

THE OFFICERS OF THE NORTH ROYALTON POLICE DEPARTMENT ASK FOR YOUR SUPPORT FOR ISSUE 26
A majority affirmative vote is necessary for passage.

The officers of the North Royalton Police Department are asking for a YES vote in support of ISSUE 26, a charter amendment to amend the way that Police/Fire chief are selected.
Article VII, Subsection (b) of the Charter of the City of North Royalton be amended to provide that when either positions of the Chief of the Police Department or Chief of the Fire Department become vacant, a suitable examination shall be given by and under the direction of the Civil Service Commission to such members of the department who have obtained the rank of police sergeant (non-probationary)/fire lieutenant (non-probationary) or higher, and desire to be considered therefor; and that those candidates who pass the examination and are so certified by members the Civil Service Commission shall be subject to an independent assessment; and that the examination shall be weighted as 40% and the assessment weighted as 60% of the total score for each candidate; and to provide that the four candidates, including ties, scoring highest shall be interviewed by the Mayor and he shall make his appointment from among them?

A YES vote on this proposed issue offers a better opportunity for the candidates to demonstrate their skills as well as provide the mayor with more options for the chief, while selecting from within the department.
