Look Learn Live.org Look.Learn.Live. is a Texas motorcycle safety and awareness campaign Most motorcycle-vehicle crashes happen when a driver turns left in front of the rider.

Look Before a Left, the Right Way
When turning left, especially at intersections, always double-check the cross traffic. Drivers often don’t see the rider, or if they do, they misjudge the rider’s speed or distance. Motorcycles can move fast and are often hard to spot. When turning left, especially at intersections, always double-check the cross traffic. Share the Road
It’s true that a motorcycle takes up less space in the lane. But remember, whether passing a motorcycle or following one in your lane, the rider requires the same amount of reaction time you do. Give a motorcycle the same space you’d give any other vehicle. Don’t tailgate—give motorcycles a four-second following distance. Avoid Riders in Your Blind Spot
Motorcycles present a narrow profile, and they can wind up in your blind spot in a hurry. Being aware of your surroundings—and all the vehicles around you—will improve safety for everyone on the road.

Being a passenger princess means enjoying the ride without doing the work, but don't get too comfortable. Passengers still need a DOT-approved helmet and full protective gear. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride, but never let your guard down.

A cool-looking helmet might turn heads, but its real job is protecting yours. Before hitting the road, check that your helmet is DOT-approved and in good condition. Safety never goes out of style.

Fog can quickly reduce visibility and create dangerous riding conditions for motorcyclists. Before you hit the road, make sure to wear reflective or high-visibility protective gear to help other drivers see you, and don't be afraid to play it safe. If the fog becomes too thick, find a safe place to stop and wait for conditions to improve.

Do what you love, share what you love! The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation and the Texas A&M Transportation Institute are working to address the need for motorcycle safety instructors across Texas. As part of this effort, TTI is conducting a study to learn more about new motorcycle instructors, from the time they become certified to train new riders through their first couple of years on the job.

If you would be interested in participating or would like more information, please provide your information on this online form: https://bit.ly/4yb24Iy. Space in the study is limited.

As we celebrate Pedestrian Safety Month, remember that safer roads depend on everyone looking out for one another. Slow down, stay alert, check intersections and crosswalks, and always look twice for motorcycles and pedestrians.

The faster you ride, the less time you have to react. A sudden stop, curve, road hazard or vehicle pulling into your path can turn dangerous quickly when speed is involved. Slow down, follow posted speed limits and give yourself the time and space to react.
