The Corridor H Highway Authority is extremely disappointed and frustrated by yet another attempt to delay the completion of Corridor H.
For decades, West Virginians have waited for this highway to be completed. The Wardensville-to-Virginia state line section has undergone years of planning, environmental review, public involvement, and regulatory scrutiny. At some point, the process must be allowed to result in progress.
We remain optimistic that the federal court will recognize these efforts for what we believe they are: another attempt to delay a project that has been studied, reviewed, and debated for decades.
Every additional delay has consequences. It increases costs, prolongs uncertainty, and pushes further into the future the safety, economic development, and connectivity benefits that a completed Corridor H will provide to the people of West Virginia.
The Corridor H Highway Authority remains committed to seeing this project through to completion. We have confidence in the extensive process that has brought the project to this point, and we are hopeful that construction on the Wardensville-to-Virginia state line section will be able to move forward as planned.
West Virginians have waited long enough. It is time to finish Corridor H!
After the West Virginia Department of Transportation (WVDOT) awarded a contract to construct a controversial section of Corridor H earlier this summer, citizen groups opposing construction have now filed an injunction seeking to halt it.
