We also recognize both the communities who continue to carry on Indigenous traditions and the Native individuals who have contributed so much to our city across generations.

The City of Buffalo is holding another Charter Revision Public Forum this upcoming Tuesday, October 13, to help voters understand the 11 proposed Charter amendments that will be on the ballot this November.

Today, I had the honor of delivering the invocation for Mayor Sean M. Ryan’s first Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration.

Hispanic Americans have helped build Buffalo and continue to make our community stronger. The individuals recognized by the Mayor today represent some of the best of our community - veterans, public servants, civic leaders, artists, and workers who give back to this city every day.

I was proud to be a part of this ceremony to honor these incredible Latino and Latina Buffalonians - and to celebrate the Hispanic culture, heritage, and history that is such an integral part of our city.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, a time to stand with survivors and honor those who have been lost to domestic violence.

As a member of the Buffalo Police Department for 25 years, I have seen the terrible harm caused by domestic abusers - but I have also seen many survivors get out of a bad situation because of the caring advocates, service providers, and law enforcement officers in our community.

This month, we raise awareness of the importance of supporting survivors, connecting people with resources, and working together to help make sure that no one in our city suffers in silence.

This month, we celebrate the courage and resilience of breast cancer survivors and stand beside everyone facing this terrible diagnosis.

We honor the loved ones and caregivers who provide support through every step of the journey, and we remember those whose lives were taken by this disease.

And perhaps most importantly, we raise awareness of the importance of screening and having these conversations with your healthcare provider, because early detection saves lives. 🌷🎗

City of Buffalo voters will see 11 proposed changes to the City Charter on the ballot this November. 🗳

To help voters better understand the proposals, the City is hosting five public forums on the proposed changes, with the first being held Thursday, September 24 at the Central Library, from 5:30-7:30pm.
