City Honors took on the 61st McQuaid Invitational!!🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️🌲

Both the boys and girls teams showed immense effort, leaving it all on the course and bringing home a wave of new personal bests.
• ⏱️ Henry Peterson ran against the best in the elite Bradley Premier race, clocking an incredible 14:58!
• 💨 Hadley Wert delivered a powerhouse performance, with a strong 20:56 finish.
• ⭐ 7th grader Lexie Wert stepped up big as the youngest competitor among the JV medium school runners, conquering the 3-mile course in an impressive 22:58!

👏 Varsity Lineup: Huge shoutout to Cooper Kulinski, Callum Sutherland, Oscar Rubeck, John Huffnagle, Jackson Bush, Elliott Kresse, Mia Yacobucci, Elena Rawlins, and Zoe Harnett for pushing the pace and delivering a stellar race!

💪 JV Boys Lineup: Major congrats to Paddy McManus, Wylie Cascarino, Nodirjon Nasimjonov, Logan Van De Genachte, and Finnegan Spraugh for digging deep, conquering the hills, and putting on a phenomenal performance!

Very, very sad news was shared on The Hilltop today by Dr. Kresse during our morning announcements:

Good morning City Honors. I need to deliver some very sad news this morning. Mrs. Erica Jennings, French and Spanish teacher at City Honors for many years, has passed away after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Mrs. Jennings was not only an extraordinary teacher, she was one of the finest human beings I have known in my lifetime. Mrs. Jennings was the only dual certified Spanish and French teacher in our school district, a testament to her embrace of diversity and all cultures. There are few that I have known in my career that truly loved working with children as Mrs. Jennings did.

We tend to think of the strongest in our society as athletes, soldiers or those who are the physically imposing. Mrs. Jennings was small in stature, but she was a giant in almost every other sense. She refused to relent to her illness, finding a way to come to the school to teach her students regardless of pain and physical limitations. Her City Honors students and her daughter Elle were her greatest joy. Being at school each day around all of you was also her greatest source of strength. While others these days may get caught in spirals of negativity, Mrs. Jennings always saw the good and had a smile for everyone on our school community. Mrs. Jennings worked hard at her own studies as a young person and was incredibly proud to be a member of the City Honors faculty and our school community.
