This is a story of when training becomes lifesaving, even off the clock. ❤️🚑

AMR Western New York EMT Amber Dingeldey was out to eat with her mom and young son when she suddenly realized her mom was choking on a roast beef sandwich. Her mom couldn’t speak, and was grabbing her throat, which is a critical sign that her airway was blocked.

Amber immediately jumped into action, performing abdominal thrusts until the food became dislodged. Moments later, her mom was able to speak again and was thankfully okay.

For Amber, it’s an important reminder that emergencies can happen anywhere, at any time, even sitting across the table from someone you love.

Her message to everyone is to learn basic lifesaving skills like how to respond to choking. You never know when you may need them for a loved one, a child, a stranger, or when someone may need them for you.

We’re proud to have EMTs, like Amber, serving our Western New York community with swift, life-saving action and knowledge!

Today, our team stood shoulder to shoulder on the pedestrian bridge near Hoyt Lake with our brothers and sisters in the military, our fellow first responders and members of our community to honor, reflect and remember. 🇺🇸

As first responders, the legacy of 9/11 carries a profound meaning. We will never forget the firefighters, EMS professionals, law enforcement officers, military members and everyday Americans who demonstrated incredible courage and selflessness in our nation's darkest hours.

Today, we stood together and waved our flags. We remember all the lives lost and all the lives forever changed.

We will never forget. 🇺🇸
