District Attorney Mike Keane was invited to give remarks at the “Shine the Light on Domestic Violence” event hosted by Child and Family Services. DA Keane was joined by many prosecutors from our office’s Domestic Violence Bureau and advocates from the BE SAFE Domestic Violence Victim Advocacy Program.

A special thank you to Child and Family Services Haven House for their continued partnership and hosting this annual commemoration to raise awareness and promote healing.

If you or someone you know is a victim or may be at-risk of domestic violence, help is available through the BE SAFE Program. While our staff specialize in trauma-informed support and victim advocacy following the arrest of an offender, you do not need to have a pending criminal case to speak with an advocate and access services. Our advocates are available by phone Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

In observance of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, District Attorney Mike Keane reminds the residents of Erie County that this office remains a resource for victims of domestic violence and will continue to prosecute offenders to the fullest extent of the law.

DA Keane encourages anyone who has been a victim of domestic/intimate partner violence or may be at-risk of abuse to inquire about services available through the BE SAFE Domestic Violence Victim Advocacy Program.

We understand that asking for help takes enormous courage. Our office is committed to ensuring that every crime victim receives support throughout the criminal justice process.

Our advocates help survivors navigate court proceedings, offer safety planning and provide connections to counseling and other community resources based on their wishes and individual needs. While our staff specialize in trauma-informed support and victim advocacy following the arrest of an offender, you do not need to have a pending criminal case to speak with an advocate and access services.

To our community: if you are experiencing abuse, know that you are not alone and help is available.

To every member of law enforcement, victim advocate, community partner, and service provider – thank you for your work to help survivors of domestic and intimate partner violence.

Together, we can make our community safer for everyone.
