The Richardson Architecture Center board, also a not for profit 501(c)(3), oversees the development of the Architecture and Visitor Center.

Throwback Thursday: Here is a recently uncovered photo of one of the female wards from the 1890s. Did you know that the western wards were actually designed by local Buffalo architect E.B. Green? By the time construction started on this portion of the asylum in 1890, Henry Hobson Richardson had passed a few years prior in 1886. E.B. Green did his best to replicate Richardson’s original plan with slight changes that included tin ceilings, fire places, and communal bunking areas in anticipation of a rising patient population.

The Richardson Olmsted Campus recently received a new historic marker sign at the corner of Forest Avenue and Richmond Avenue. This is another step in preserving the historic character of the site, and providing the community with information on one of Buffalo’s most important buildings. A special thank you to the William G. Pomeroy Foundation, Erie County, and the city of Buffalo for making this initiative possible.

Stay tuned for information on a formal dedication ceremony!
