As a homeowner, renter, or business owner, you can help protect your pipes from sewer backups. Damages to your sewer line can become a huge burden.
👍Remember the 4 Ps; only flush p*e, p**p, puke, and toilet paper!
❌Never pour grease, oils, or animal fats down the sink drain or toilets, please dispose of it into a can or trash. Over time these substances can build up and block your plumping system.
❌Never flush wipes down the toilets, even if the label says they are flushable, they should not be flushed. They can get trapped in your sewer system, causing backups into your home.

⚙️Buffalo Sewer keeps the design and implementation of Queen City Clean Waters projects community-focused by ensuring that community engagement is done early and often.
🏘️ Our Outreach and Engagement Team strategically aligns outreach and engagement activities with project timelines to ensure that Stakeholders and Community members are informed and empowered to provide feedback, which will help our project teams address community concerns and complete infrastructure projects that will aid in keeping our waterways clean.
💧With the successful completion of every project, such as Cornelius Creek - we hope to leave a positive community impact, adding another piece to the building blocks of a cleaner and more sustainable future for all City of Buffalo residents.

What would our waterways look like without clean water?
This Imagine a Day Without Water, we’re reminded of the vital role clean water plays in protecting our local ecosystem. Through the Queen City Clean Waters Initiative, Buffalo Sewer is investing in upgrades to our sewer system to reduce combined sewer overflows, improve water quality, and protect the rivers and creeks that make the City of Buffalo special.
Did you know that otters, once at risk of disappearing from parts of New York, have made a comeback? Their return is an encouraging reminder of the importance of healthy waterways and habitats. By reducing pollution and protecting our rivers and creeks, we can help support otters, fish, and other wildlife that depend on clean water to thrive. 🦦🐟💙

You like your coffee black.
You like your water clear.
And you definitely DON’T want your water looking like your coffee.
Clean water and a healthy sewer system go hand in hand. That’s why the Queen City Clean Waters Initiative is investing in Buffalo’s sewer infrastructure to help reduce wastewater overflows and keep our local waterways cleaner.
Because on Imagine a Day Without Water, we’re reminded just how much we depend on water every day - from that first cup of coffee - to the water that helps keep our communities and waterways clean.
Coffee belongs in your cup. ☕
P**p belongs in the sewer. 💩
Clean water belongs in our waterways. 💙💧

We rely on water daily, whether it is taking a shower, cooking, drinking, watering our plants, we cannot operate without it.
While the use of fresh water is irreplaceable so is the infrastructure that carries water from your home.
Water that runs down your drain must end up somewhere and without the infrastructure or treatment of that water we would not be a functioning society.
Let us be thankful for the waterways, infrastructure, and workers who ensure we have access to a plentiful supply of water daily.
Tune in to learn what would happen if we did not have a functioning wastewater treatment process or infrastructure system.
