The Kenmore West High School Art Department is taking their students outside of the classroom to learn! Last week, students visited the Buffalo AKG Art Museum where they witnessed live performance art by Icelandic artist Ragnar Kjartansson and observed recently installed artwork by Ali Banisadr (who was influenced by Mark Rothko). After eating lunch at the Buffalo State University student center, they headed to the Upton Gallery to visit another exhibit!

It's Digital Citizenship Week here in Ken-Ton and our district technology committee is sharing some important tips and information each day!

Today's topic is "Be Kind Online". Kindness online means treating people with the same care and empathy you would in person, choosing words that uplift rather than harm, and standing up against mean or hurtful behavior. Kindness online also involves pausing before responding and considering how messages may be interpreted. Please encourage your child to share one positive comment or supportive message they can send to someone this week.

The Kenmore East High School community was out in force for Thursday's homecoming varsity football game against North Tonawanda. Students, families, and staff came together to cheer on their Bulldogs as the Kenmore East cheerleaders and band did a fantastic job keeping the crowd engaged all night long. Thank you to everyone who came out to demonstrate what Bulldog pride is all about!

It's Digital Citizenship Week here in Ken-Ton and our district technology committee is sharing some important tips and information each day!

Today's topic is "Be a Good Digital Citizen". A good digital citizen uses technology in ways that respect others, protects privacy, and contributes positively to online communities. It includes understanding how our words and actions online can affect real people and making choices that reflect honesty and responsibility. Adults should model respectful online behavior and talk with your child about examples of responsible choices you or they might make online.

Our Ken-Ton District Leadership Council (DLC) held their first meeting of the school year! DLC is made up of students from Kenmore West High School, Kenmore East High School, Kenmore Junior Senior High School, Franklin Middle School and Herbert Hoover Middle School and is designed to encourage student voice and leadership and finds ways to make district-wide connections.

Led by our Board of Education student representatives, this group meets a few times a year and always focuses on a special project at Aqua Lane Park and Ken-Ton's adopted section of the Niagara River Greenway Trail. Last year, our DLC refurbished five picnic tables (each designed by a school) that are now sitting in the park for visitors to relax and enjoy. After the success of that project, this year's group decided to add an additional five picnic tables to the park that will once again be designed and refurbished by our five middle and high schools.

On Friday, the group discussed the successes of last year's project and what could be done better this year and began brainstorming ways to raise money for paint, supplies, and more school & student involvement. We can't wait to see this year's project come to fruition next spring!

Throughout the 2026-27 school year we'll be recognizing students, staff, and support staff across the district each week as our "Ken-Ton Spotlight". These spotlights will rotate between all 10 schools and will give our district administrators the chance to recognize even more individuals who make their school the special place it is!

This week we recognize RJ, a student at Hoover Elementary School. Way to make a big difference at Hoover, RJ!
