Congratulations to longtime Maconaquah wrestling coach Bob Freije, who was inducted into the Indiana Wrestling Hall of Fame on October 22nd!

Throughout his two-decade coaching career, Coach Freije built a legacy of excellence, leadership, and dedication to student-athletes. With an impressive career record of 372 wins and 149 losses, his impact on Maconaquah wrestling extends far beyond the mat.

Boys Wrestling Career Highlights:
29 team championships
34 individual conference champions
39 sectional champions
18 regional champions
2 semi-state champions
7 IHSAA State Finals qualifiers, including a third-place finisher
54 Individual Academic All-State honors
5 wrestlers who continued their careers at the collegiate level, earning high honors

Girls Wrestling Career Highlights:
Served on the Indiana State Girls Wrestling Committee
16 state place winners
2 state champions
1 recipient of the Katie Dowing Mental Attitude Award

While the championships, victories, and accolades are impressive, Coach Freije’s greatest legacy is the lasting difference he has made in the lives of countless student-athletes. His commitment to developing character, perseverance, and excellence has left a lasting mark on Maconaquah athletics and our entire community.

STEM at Mac El: This was the final week of our secret mission jobs!!!. Each student had a specific job, and they could only talk to certain team members while completing the secret mission, like the old game Telephone. Students completed their job by sharpening their communication skills to build the secret item. Once the build was complete, the team could share the blueprint and verify that the build matched it. Then the team took the last few minutes to improve their design. Finally, the class wrapped up by respectfully listening as each team described their item and compared it to the blueprint.

🥏 A NEW UNIT IS IN FULL SWING AT MMS! 🌳
Our 7th grade Physical Education students are hitting the great outdoors for a new unit on disc golf! Using our beautiful green spaces, we’re creating a 9-hole course featuring our brand-new baskets. The gorgeous fall weather has been the perfect backdrop for students to learn the skills, strategies, and sportsmanship that make this activity so much fun. Disc golf is more than just a game—it’s a lifelong activity that students can enjoy with family and friends for years to come. We’re taking full advantage of our outdoor spaces and making the most of these beautiful days at MMS! ☀️🥏

🏎️💨 Ready, set, BUILD! 🏁
Our 6th graders, in Transportation Systems, are putting their creativity, problem-solving, and engineering skills to the test as they design and build their very own CO₂-powered cars! From cutting and shaping wooden car bodies to drilling holes for axles and CO₂ cartridges, students are getting hands-on experience with tools and technology while learning about transportation systems and the engineering design process.
Once their cars are built, students will add their own personal touches with paint before putting their designs to the ultimate test. After fall break, it’s time to hit the track and see whose engineering skills take the checkered flag! 🏁
At MMS, learning goes beyond the classroom—our Braves are building skills, creating, and putting their ideas into action! 🔧🚗💨

Friday was an outstanding day at MMS! Our annual Career Fair brought together 45 presenters, companies, and businesses to introduce students to an incredible variety of career opportunities. From the skilled trades, public safety, mental health, banking, military, health care, transportation, manufacturing, and ministry to even a cat rescue team, students had the chance to explore careers they may never have considered.
The excitement continued outdoors with up-close demonstrations featuring a helicopter, semi-trailer, ambulance, firetrucks, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. This incredible event was truly a team effort! Our student helpers kept everything running smoothly, our local Community Group generously provided the food, and our presenters shared their time, knowledge, and talents to make a lasting impact on our students.
A huge THANK YOU to everyone who helped make this such an engaging, memorable, and successful day for our Braves!
