Getting Ahead is a 20-week program designed to help participants build resources, set goals, and create a plan for a more stable future. Through guided discussions and practical tools, you'll gain a deeper understanding of the challenges you face and discover new pathways forward.

Applications are now being accepted for our next class beginning July 9.

🌟 Volunteer Spotlight: Susan 🌟

This month, we're proud to recognize Susan! 💛

For the past 2.5 years, Susan has faithfully served behind the scenes at Harvest House Resale Store, sorting donations and helping prepare items for the sales floor.

What started as a visit from a thrift store shopper quickly became a place she now considers family.

Susan shares that volunteering has given her purpose, structure, and the opportunity to use her God-given gifts of time, energy, and organization to serve others. She believes that while her role may be behind the scenes, it helps support Harvest House's mission of serving families in need throughout our community.

One of her favorite parts of volunteering is the people she works alongside each day. Through her service, she has learned to trust that God works in mysterious ways and that He will provide exactly what is needed.

Her advice to anyone considering volunteering:

"If you want to do something that feels good and benefits your community, this is a great place to do it."

That’s what one Getting Ahead participant shared after completing the program.

Getting Ahead is more than a class. It’s a chance to step back from constant crisis and begin understanding the hidden barriers, pressures, and systems that can keep people stuck in survival mode. Participants learn practical tools for building stability, setting goals, strengthening resources, and creating a plan for the future.

If you’re tired of living paycheck to paycheck, constantly reacting to emergencies, or feeling like no matter how hard you work you still can’t move forward, this program may be for you.

Our next Getting Ahead cohort begins July 9 and meets Thursday evenings for 20 weeks at Joshua Methodist Church.
