Did you know that Burleson was established as a Johnson County Community in 1881 and officially incorporated as a town on May 21, 1972?

The first school in the area was established in 1879 at Brushy Mound, what is now near Renfro and Alsbury. D. I. Murphy donated the land for the school and made a generous contribution to the cost of the first school building. Also pictured below: Red Oak Academy class of 1898 and 1899
