Our regular Sunday Cinema series doesn't start until December, but we have a special event THIS SUNDAY, 10/25 to get us excited for more movies on our big screen! You're invited to a special screening with local filmmaker Roger Hagopian as he presents his documentary film, Memories Flow Beneath It, From Valley to Quabbin.

This 69 minute film traces the displacement of people and the loss of a way of life in the Swift River Valley of western Massachusetts, when the Quabbin Reservoir flooded four towns in order to create water infrastructure for 52 Boston metropolitan communities. Several interviewees include former valley residents, historians, and authors, notably J.R. Greene, who has written numerous books on the subject. This screening is intended for adult audiences and is free of charge.

The screening will be followed by a chance to ask questions of the filmmaker Roger Hagopian. No registration required, just show up! 2PM in the Large Meeting Room.

The Friends need your help! They host two large book sales a year, and the proceeds go right back to the Library! They are looking for a handful of people to help out during the first week of November - both setting up, running, and cleaning up the fundraiser. If you can help, visit our website (sorry, Facebook isn't allowing links right now). A variety of times and days with open spots remain, and our goal is to fill them quickly to get them the support they need to support us!

We thought our Haunted Library would be popular, but it souled...err..sold out even faster than we could have expected! Thank you to everyone who grabbed tickets! If your plans change, PLEASE return your tickets to the Library so someone else can use them. Didn't get in? We will run a standby line the night of the event, and will work to get as many people through as possible. Only those with tickets are guaranteed, but there may be a chance to get in if you line up at the rear of the building where the adventures will depart! **UPDATE** - This post is getting hit hard with bots trying to "sell" tickets. All the tickets were free, and we took names so NONE are transferrable. Be careful what you click!
