Shared post. Be watchful for deer crossing the roads.

๐ŸฆŒ๐Ÿšจ DEER RUT SEASON IS HERE โ€” DRIVE WITH CAUTION! ๐Ÿšจ๐ŸฆŒ

The Bel Aire Police Department would like to remind motorists that deer rut (mating season) is beginning, which means deer will be more active and unpredictable over the next several weeks.

During this time, deer are more likely to cross roadways unexpectedly, increasing the risk of vehicle collisions.

โš ๏ธ SAFETY REMINDERS:

๐ŸฆŒ Slow Down: Be especially cautious during dawn and dusk when deer are most active.

๐Ÿš— Stay Alert: Watch for deer along roadways, especially near wooded areas, fields, and open spaces.

๐Ÿ’ก Use Your Headlights: Use high beams when appropriate to help spot deer sooner.

๐ŸฆŒ Expect More Than One: Deer often travel in groups. If you see one, there may be others nearby.

๐Ÿ“ต Avoid Distractions: Keep your eyes on the road and your attention on driving.

โš ๏ธ If a deer enters the roadway, brake firmly and avoid swerving into oncoming traffic or off the road. Hitting a deer is dangerous, but losing control of your vehicle can have even more serious consequences.

๐Ÿš” The Bel Aire Police Department encourages everyone to slow down, remain vigilant, and use extra caution while traveling this fall.

Remember, deer donโ€™t look both ways before crossing โ€” thatโ€™s why we need YOU to!

๐Ÿ‚ Stay alert. Slow down. Arrive alive.
