Trump and his enablers are desperate for power and we know from experience that they may try to subvert the outcome of the 2026 election. Their ability to succeed depends on our collective ability to demand that the election results be respected.

In the days leading up to and immediately following November 3, it is incumbent on all of us, and especially our elected leaders, to make it clear that the American people will not tolerate efforts to throw out votes, delay certification, or steal the election.

That's why we have launched a petition asking Governor Phil Scott to speak publicly in support of free and fair elections and a peaceful transfer of power.

Governor Scott can set an example for his Republican colleagues across the nation by speaking up before November 3. The message simple: Count every vote. Certify on time. Seat the winners.

There's a lot to pay attention to in this election. In addition to the candidates on the ballot, Vermonters are voting on two constitutional amendments. Many people are also concerned about protecting voting rights and election integrity, especially in states with contentious congressional races.

During our Action Call next Tuesday at 6pm, we'll cover:

- Proposal 3: the unionization rights amendment (with guest speaker Conor Casey from the Yes on 3 campaign)

- Proposal 4: the equal rights amendment (with guest speaker TBA from the Yes on 4 campaign)

- How we can call on Governor Scott to speak up for election integrity

- Preparing for possible post-election challenges to election integrity

Looking to make a difference in this year's election? Rights & Democracy Vermont is recruiting Election Outreach Coordinators to organize in their communities through mid-November.

Participants will receive training, digital tools, and ongoing support. Participants who complete the program will be eligible to receive a $500 volunteer appreciation stipend.

We are excited to announce that RAD-VT members have voted to endorse Amanda Janoo for Governor and Esther Charlestin for Lieutenant Governor!

Both candidates are committed to addressing our state’s many challenges through transformative solutions like:

- Implementing Act 48, Vermont’s universal healthcare law passed in 2011;

- Regulating rent increases and investing public dollars in permanently affordable housing development;

- Raising state taxes on the wealthiest Vermonters;

- Ensuring Vermont’s public education system has the resources it needs without placing inequitable burdens on taxpayers;
