Shout out to Hoovers Thriftway for donating bottled water for participants coming to the Zombie 2k/5k For Special Olympics! this Saturday! Thank you, Hoovers!

We are also honored to announce that the Zombie 2k/5k this year is being dedicated to long time COF Training Services, Inc. resident and Special Olympics athlete, Virginia "Ginny" David, who sadly passed away earlier this month. We've reached out to her family, and invite the community to honor Ginny with us during a moment of silence that will take place right before the start of the Special Olympics Fun Walk at 8am Saturday, October 24th.

🟣October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month🟣

Domestic violence is defined as any verbal and/or physical abuse ranging from simple assault to murder.

Beginning in 1992, all standard offense reports related to domestic violence were required to be submitted to the KBI. Since then, Kansas law enforcement agencies have increased arrest rates for domestic-related crimes.

Regardless, our work is far from over.

If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, please call SafeLine Kansas at 1-800-363-2287 or text SAFE to 847411. All calls and texts are confidential, and safe shelters can be found at your request.

Join us in spreading awareness this month for the victims and survivors of domestic violence.

It's finally here! Join us this Saturday, October 24th as we celebrate OUR COMMUNITY coming together and raising over $12,000 for Olympics Kansas, COF Training Services, Inc., and Burlington Special Olympics & Unified Sports!

ALL EVENT ACTIVITIES START AND END AT THE DETENTION SALLY PORT LOCATED BEHIND THE COFFEY COUNTY LAW ENFORCEMENT CENTER (BESIDE THE BURLINGTON USD 244 EARLY EDUCATION CENTER)

Hebron Lodge #314 will be joining us to host a free will donation breakfast. Don't miss out! They'll be setting up at the start of the event and will be available while supplies last.

Event registration will take place from 7a-7:40a. THE EVENT IS FREE (WE WANT TO SEE YOU THERE!). Thank you to the 54 participants, including 16 local special olympics athletes, who have already pre-registered for the event. Don't worry if you didn't pre-register. WE STILL WANT YOU JOIN US AND PARTICIPATE IN THE EVENT!

A group photo will take place at 7:45. The fun walk for Special Olympics athletes will start at 8am.

We hope to increase our fundraising amount for these incredible organizations through event t-shirt sales the day of. Event t-shirts are available for $20 with sizes available on a first come first serve basis. We can accept cash or check made payable to Special Olympics Kansas that morning.

Coffey County SRO is hard at it working to keep staff in our local schools up to date on ALICE training! Another great morning in the books with Burlington High School.

This morning, staff from Burlington High School participated in A.L.I.C.E. Training. This is their 2nd consecutive year with this training.

This training was presented by myself, SRO Camren Honn. I was assisted by Lt. Garen Honn and several Coffey County Dispatchers.

A special thank you to everyone who helped at this training.

BHS Staff, thank you for continuing your training to help create a safer environment for our students.
