🍂 Getting the Parks Ready for Winter! 🍂

As the seasons change, our Parks staff will be working over the next few weeks to prepare facilities for the colder weather. Here are a few things to keep in mind as we head into winter:

🏕️ Shelter Reservations

Our regular shelter reservation season wraps up October 31. Beginning November 1, outdoor shelters will be available on a first come, first serve basis throughout the winter. Reservations for the 2026 season will open May 1.

🚰 Restrooms & Water

Over the next few weeks, staff will begin shutting off water sources around the parks. Restrooms and drinking fountains will be closed for the winter season.

🍁 Enjoy Fall While It Lasts!

We’ve enjoyed a great season in Burlington’s parks, and fall still has plenty to offer! Take a walk, enjoy the changing leaves, and get outside to soak up the colors before winter arrives.

🌳 Help Shape the Future of Burlington!

What do you love about Burlington’s parks, trails, and recreation opportunities? What would you like to see in the future? We’re updating our Parks & Recreation Master Plan alongside the city’s Comprehensive Plan, which helps guide Burlington’s overall growth and development. We want to hear from you!

The Parks & Recreation Master Plan will help guide future improvements and priorities for our parks, trails, and recreation opportunities. Whether it’s your favorite place to spend time, an idea for an improvement, or something you’d like to see more of, your input matters.

There are two easy ways to get involved:

🌳 Take the Community Survey and share what you think is working well and what could be improved.

📍 Add to the Crowdsource Map by marking your favorite spots, identifying areas that need attention, or sharing ideas for the future.

👉 Share your input here: https://storymaps.arcgis.com/stories/8df62d480d4f4bb7bea8667cd3910ed1

Our parks are places where people come together, make memories, and enjoy our community. Help us plan for what comes next!

Learning to swim is an important life skill, and for nearly 50 years, Dankwardt Pool provided Burlington kids with a place to learn, practice and enjoy the water.

On November 3, Burlington voters will consider a ballot measure regarding funding for a new pool.

Last week: unloading trees in the rain. 🌧️🌳

Today: planting them all over town. 🌱

Apparently, Parks staff decided a little rain wasn’t going to stop tree season. Now those trees are going in the ground and starting their new lives around Burlington.

Keep an eye out. You might spot a Parks crew giving a tree its forever home today! 👀🌳

Also huge thank you to Terry Schnack and Zaisers for sending a crew and volunteering their own time!
